Laughter and Immunity

Have you found time to laugh today? Apparently laughter may be slightly under-rated these days and something we should find time for within our busy schedules and daily routines.

There is research supporting its potent effect on our immune systems. Laughing therapy is now being used in some Autoimmune conditions such as with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). It seems to up-regulate the expression of genes involved in the natural killer cell immune response.

In RA, specifically, laughter may decrease levels of circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines and suppress the expression of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor 1.

Is laughter the end all be all cure? Probably not.

It is a free therapy that potentially can help decrease perceived stress and hey maybe improve our immunity. Total win.
