Mindful Eating Reminders and Tips

The relationship we have with food can involve feelings of fear, shame, or guilt. Some of us are afraid to trust our appetite or may feel disconnected...like our body just doesn't quite get the memo on satiety.⁠ ⁠

Mindfulness before or around eating involves assessing our hunger before we begin. Starting each meal by tuning into our body and asking how hungry are we?⁠

Are we about to eat our of boredom or to satisfy a craving? ⁠ ⁠

Are we stressed or calm?

What could we do in the moment to increase relaxation and positive thoughts?⁠ ⁠

I'm a total foodie...can't lie. I love to eat. Sometimes it's a good reminder to recall that we first eat to live, then live to eat.⁠ ⁠

A few tips:⁠

• Be present, have gratitude, sit down ⁠

• Let go of negative self-talk & criticism⁠

• Turn off all media ⁠

• Put down our fork between bites⁠

• Chew our food well (25-30 times) before swallowing⁠

• Enjoy every bite with awareness⁠ ⁠
